Olga Szymula


Olga Szymula is a composer based in Aarhus, Denmark.

Her works take forms in concerts, records, film scores, audio-visual installations and performances.

She is an author of an interdisciplinary composition “Mon” , an electro-opera "Lapses' and sound installations and performances like: 'Dwellers', 'national song', or 'Contact'. Apart from her solo projects, Szymula collaborated and played together with Toshimaru Nakamura, Marcin Dymiter (BAZA), Palle Højrup (pinecone colony) and Ylfa Þöll Ólafsdóttir.

She wrote a film score to the films 'Baba Vanga' and “The Scream of a Siren” by Aleksandra Niemczyk and created scores for dance performances “Gravity”, “PRIMUS”, “Bang Bang-Collective Matters” by Svalholm Company.

Szymula released albums at labels: nomadic island, Escho and Bołt records.

Olga Szymula holds an MA in electronic composition at Danish Institute of Electronic Music, Denmark.

She was granted an exchange composition and fine arts program at The Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2016 and individual composer exchange program in Tokyo, Japan in 2018.
