Steffi Weismann came to the Maulwerker in 1989 via her special interest in Fluxus and joined the ensemble in 1993. In the mid-1990s she began to integrate the medium of video into her performances and to investigate the interactions between language, music, and new communication media. Along with her solo works in the performance and visual art context, as a video artist, Weismann has realized a number of audiovisual projects using live video in collaboration with contemporary composers. Since 2004 she has created performances, installations and compositions at the interface between analog and digital media. Increasingly, she has developed a new focus on outdoor interventions, mobile audio performances and the use of DIY technologies.
