Roberto Beseler Maxwell (*1994) is a curator, clarinetist and cultural manager. As a curator, his focus is on refuting the elitist element of new music by curating accessible formats and opening them up to new audiences, through hosting concerts in non-canonical venues and with unconventional programs. Originally from Madrid, Roberto Beseler Maxwell came to Germany at the age of 19 to study mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University.
He currently lives in Essen, where he studies musicology at the Folkwang University of the Arts with clarinet as his artistic major. He is also a board member of the Gesellschaft für Neue Musik Ruhr. In addition, he acts as project manager of the E-MEX Ensemble, an ensemble concentrating on contemporary music which is anchored in the Ruhr are. He currently curates and organizes the concert series "stromspiesser" together with the composer Tim Pauli and together with Levin E. Zimmermann the "ya - Festival" in Essen.
As a clarinetist, he has premiered pieces by composers such as Levin Eric Zimmermann, Marius Bajog and Jiaying He. Recently he has participated in a residency at Godsbanen, Aarhus (DK) together with the Danish ensembles Current Resonance and K!ART and works as production assistant for MINU_festival_for_expanded_music in Copenhagen and co-curated a German-Lithuanian musical exchange project in Essen and Vilnius.
